LAKESIDE ELEMENTARY AT DOWNS

Mrs. Groenendyk

Third Grade has begun the process of studying for Kansas Assessment tests. Right now, that involves becoming familiar with the Internet Web-Site that provides practice quizzes. It is fun to work with the different “tools” that are provided. There is a calculator, a striker, a highlighter, and a chooser. There are also ‘user names,’ session ID Numbers, and passwords to get acquainted with.  There are a lot of special math terms we need to become familiar with so there are posters to be made and studied. They are all excited for the process and we are having fun! Each year the students do very well and it is because they have learned how important this process is.

In Math we have finished up multiplication and division and are moving on to charts and graphs. We have taken several surveys and made tally tables and frequency tables that can best display this information.   In Science, much to Blade’s delight, we have finally begun the chapter on the study of rocks. He just loves rocks and has plenty to share with us.
