Greeting to all Parents and Patrons:
The Kansas assessment tests have officially begun in the district. They will continue to run through the next two months. It is very important that you know the schedule of when your child or children will be taking these tests. Please encourage them to give their very best efforts with these tests. It is also important that the students are well rested during these times. The Kansas assessment testing results are a direct reflection on how our school district compares with the other districts around the state, and even the nation. Currently, USD 272 is considered to be one of the best academic districts in Kansas and the nation.
This is a very important time to be watchful of the state legislative session. As you all know, the state has been and is in a financial recession. The state legislators are talking about devastating financial cuts to the school districts. These cuts would potentially slash the educational process in the state of Kansas as we know it. As I am sure that most of you would agree, the children of Kansas are the state’s most valuable resource. Please encourage our legislators to look for solutions that will not hurt our students’ futures. I would encourage each household to personally write a letter to our local legislators encouraging them to not make further cuts to education. Please let our legislators know how important it is for the children of Kansas to receive an appropriate education.
Sincerely,
Jeff Travis
Superintendent, USD 272
