Class Expectations:

There is always something to work on! Sitting and doing nothing is never an option. You are only limited by your own imagination!  You are expected to respect your classmates and teachers.  This is not a time to catch up with your friends and finish homework for other classes.

 You are an artist when you walk into the art room.

 Your sketchbook is your textbook for this class make sure you always have it with you!

50% - Sketchbook Journal, Weekly Reflections, and Class work:

  • Sketchbook Journal: Each week we will experiment with a new art medium.  This will allow you to explore different art materials and begin to make choices about what you like to create with. 

Weekly Reflection

  • Participation -60 points each week
    • Earn these points by
      • Being in your seat when the bell rings
      • Working until the end of class.
      • Focusing on your project not your friends
      • Coming to class on time
      • Cleaning up your area and supplies you used
  • Each week you will be filling out a reflection notebook where you will reflect on your weekly activities. 

***This is due every Friday at the BEGINNING of class.

Projects = 50% of your grade:

Self-Assessment: You will first grade yourself using a self-assessment rubric.  This rubric will reflect on your use of the theme, materials, composition, elements and principles of design, and creativity and experimentation. 

Final = 10%

Semester Grade:

1st 9 weeks = 40%               2nd 9 weeks = 40%               Final = 10% of you grade

Final: Artist Statement

Late Work=Personal Responsibility

  • 10% will be taken off for any late work.
  • The work will not be accepted one week past the due date.
