October saw 2nd grade being very busy!  In the classroom, we learned how numbers work using ten blocks and how we group numbers together.  We also learned how to add using many stratgies such as doubles facts (5+5=10) and making a ten using a ten frame.  The last week of October saw us learning how to add 3 numbers.  We also learned how America was founded in 1492 by Christopher Columbus.  The students had to write about what they would do if they discovered America! We got some funny answers!  Reading, we read a story about a girl and her pig named Julius.  This story showed much friendship and taught a lesson that we can all learn something from one another.  Next we read Animal Tracks.  The students loved this book!! I loved guessing which track came from which animal. Hopefully November we will get to make tracks of our own and research about different animal tracks.

AND of course, this month also saw us going on our annual pumpkin patch field trip to Browndale Farms and having our Halloween parade!!
